SORA Technology Signs Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cameroon’s National Malaria Control Programme to Advance Technology-Driven Malaria Control
SORA Technology Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagoya, Japan; Founder & CEO: Yosuke Kaneko; hereafter “SORA Technology”), which provides advanced drone and AI solutions across public health, agriculture, and climate resilience, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) of Cameroon to strengthen collaboration in the fight against malaria.
Through the MOU, the two organizations will explore opportunities to leverage innovative technologies, including drones, high-resolution environmental data, and AI, to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of malaria prevention, control, and elimination activities in Cameroon.
Background of the Partnership
Cameroon has made significant progress in the fight against malaria, yet the disease remains a major public health challenge. Limited resources, technological infrastructure, and human capacity continue to pose challenges to the effective implementation of malaria prevention and control interventions across the country.
The National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) of Cameroon is committed to protecting populations at risk through effective malaria prevention interventions and reducing malaria-related morbidity and mortality. As Cameroon continues to strengthen its efforts toward malaria elimination, innovative technologies have the potential to complement existing approaches and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of malaria control activities.
SORA Technology develops innovative solutions that combine drones, satellite data, AI, and digital technologies to address global health and environmental challenges. In particular, high-resolution environmental data collected through drone and other geospatial technologies can help identify and monitor areas with a higher risk of mosquito breeding, supporting more targeted and data-driven vector control interventions.
Recognizing the potential of these technologies to strengthen malaria control efforts in Cameroon, NMCP Cameroon and SORA Technology have signed an MOU to establish a framework for collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Purpose of the partnership
The collaboration aims to harness the potential of AI-powered drone technology to strengthen malaria vector surveillance and control in Cameroon. By leveraging SORA Technology’s solutions, NMCP Cameroon and SORA Technology aim to detect mosquito breeding sites, assess and classify risks, conduct targeted larvicide spraying, and enable more effective, data-driven malaria control while promoting both public health and environmental sustainability.
The collaboration also aims to improve the precision and efficiency of data collection and strengthen response mechanisms, contributing to Cameroon’s efforts toward malaria elimination and reducing the health risks associated with the disease.
In addition, the two organizations will promote knowledge sharing, capacity building, and technology transfer to strengthen local capabilities and support sustainable malaria control efforts. Through this partnership, NMCP Cameroon and SORA Technology will build a continuous working relationship and work together toward their shared goal of accelerating progress toward malaria elimination in Cameroon.
SORA Technology will continue to work closely with NMCP Cameroon to harness the power of innovative technologies and locally driven collaboration, contributing to more effective and sustainable malaria control and accelerating progress toward a malaria-free Cameroon.
