SORA Technology Launches Mining DX Initiative in Ethiopia Following Selection for the Global South Co-Creation Program (GSCP)
SORA Technology Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagoya, Japan; Founder & CEO: Yosuke Kaneko; hereafter “SORA Technology”), which provides advanced drone and AI solutions across public health, agriculture, and climate resilience, announced that it was selected as one of the companies to participate in the Global South Co-Creation Program (GSCP), a startup support initiative under the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s “TOKYO SUTEAM” program, which promotes startup support through diverse stakeholders in April 2026.
Global South Co-Creation Program:GSCP
GSCP is an initiative under the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s TOKYO SUTEAM program, which supports startups seeking to expand into Global South markets. The program provides participating startups with expert mentorship, market research, and business development support while fostering co-creation with local partners to build sustainable businesses. In April 2026, 18 startups, including SORA Technology, were selected to participate in the approximately one-year commercialization program.
SORA Technology’s Initiative Under the GSCP
Following its selection for the GSCP, SORA Technology has launched the deployment of SORA Mining Intelligence Room, a mining solution powered by satellite data, drones, and artificial intelligence (AI), in Ethiopia.
SORA Mining Intelligence Room is designed to enhance visibility across mining operations, enable early risk detection, support regulatory compliance, and strengthen ESG initiatives. By providing data-driven insights throughout the entire mining lifecycle—from exploration and operations to environmental management—the solution empowers informed decision-making and contributes to more sustainable mining development.

As part of the project in Ethiopia, SORA Technology has initiated analyses focused on mining site identification and environmental monitoring.
For mining site identification, the solution continuously monitors surface changes using satellite data to detect illegal or unregulated mining operations at an early stage. It also identifies potential mining sites located near water sources in forest regions.
For environmental monitoring, the solution leverages Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data to continuously detect and monitor deforestation through change detection analysis. In addition, it analyzes changes in water turbidity to assess the impact of mining activities on water quality.

Through this project, SORA Technology aims to establish a strong track record for the deployment of SORA Mining Intelligence Room in Ethiopia. Building on the experience and insights gained, the company will continue to expand mining DX initiatives across Africa and other regions, contributing to more sustainable, data-driven mining development.
